WALES TAKE OVER 50's International Double Rink In Fine Style
Wales won all three matches in the Warner Leisure Over 50's Double Rink Competition, which was held at Bodelwyddan Castle over the weekend of 24th & 25th September 2011.
With both Wales and England winning their 2 matches on the Saturday the scene was set for a final, which was keenly contested by the competitors and thoroughly enjoyed by the supporters of both teams.
Wales started well and were 13 shots to 2 up at 5 Ends. They continued to hold the advantage at at 10 Ends were 11 shots up (22-11).
Whilst England narrowed the gap to 4 shots at the 15th end, it was left to Emlyn Williams rink, who were playing the Final end, to secure the victory for Wales.
ON THE LAST END, ENGLAND REQUIRED TWO TO WIN THE SERIES AND WALES COULD AFFORD TO LOSE 1 SHOT AND STILL SECURE VICTORY.
THE WELSH FRONT END PRODUCED A MEMORABLE LAST END, WHICH FINALLY SHUT THE DOOR ON ENGLAND GAINING THE SHOTS REQUIRED, AND SENT THE WELSH TEAM AND SUPPORTERS HOME VERY HAPPY IN WHAT WAS A KEENLY CONTESTED SERIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND.
